I first discovered yoga in 2008 when I was training to cycle to Paris. A friend bought me a Yoga for Cyclists DVD and I found that by regularly doing the routine I recovered more quickly from each of my training rides. I also often found myself asleep on the floor in savasana.
I then made the leap to attending vinyasa flow classes taught by the fun, knowledgeable and engaging Naz Aziman at my then workplace. I learnt the pleasure and satisfaction of a regular home yoga practice and yoga became something I enjoyed for itself, not simply for how it helped with my beloved hobby of cycling.
A month long intensive course of Asthanga Yoga with Gingi Lee at the Shala in Clapham gave me solid grounding and an insight into that very disciplined world. It also reminded me that vinyasa flow is what I love : ever-changing challenges, with music.
I completed my 200hour Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training in 2012 with Yoga London. Later that year I also completed a pre and post natal yoga training with appleyoga.
I currently teach pregnancy yoga, mother and baby yoga and vinyasa flow yoga in Claygate, near Esher, in person and also online where that suits. I enjoy yoga for how it makes my body feel and for how it calms my busy monkey brain. I hope it can do the same for you too.
